The Soka Gakkai International (SGI)-USA is a socially engaged Buddhist community rooted in the life-affirming philosophy of the Nichiren school of Mahayana Buddhism. Our Maryland center, located in the main shopping area of Hyattsville, Maryland serves as the hub for meetings and activities from Takoma Park and Silver Spring to St Mary's Maryland and many points in between. As a welcoming faith community, we are committed to supporting the faith and Buddhist practice of people from all walks of life.
The Capital Region is a vibrant part of the Soka Gakkai International, a worldwide association of 90 constituent organizations with members in 192 countries and territories.
